We Speak Common Presents D8 Night (Podcast)
Dungeons & Dragons Meets Date Night
The task at hand was to craft a playful cover for a podcast series encapsulating the dynamic of a couple immersed in their Dungeons & Dragons adventures. While one half, the podcast host, delved deep into the realm of fantasy, the other remained more casual in their enthusiasm.
The project called for the creation of cartoon avatars representing the couple, capturing their emotions and reactions as they navigated their D&D campaign turned date nights. The scene was set against a 'date' backdrop infused with D&D elements, prominently featuring the series title, D8 Night, presented by We Speak Common—the podcast channel's moniker.
Drawing inspiration from 'The Ricky Gervais Show,' the aim was to infuse the artwork with quirky, comedic undertones, while maintaining a strong connection to the elements required for a D&D campaign.
This project marked several firsts for me: my debut in mixed media creation post-graduation in 2019, exploring digital illustration alongside graphic design, and venturing into podcast cover design for the very first time.
